Podcast with Sir nick faldo

In our first ever Performance Golf Podcast, Sir Nick Faldo, a three-time British Open Champion and Three-Time Masters winner, shares his untold story.

Sir Nick received his first set of golf clubs on his birthday, which sparked his interest in golf after watching the Masters in 1971, but did you know his beginnings of sports actually started in the swimming pool?

We were lucky enough to sit down and talk with him about his transition from water to grass, his fateful introduction to golf, and what truly sparked his interest in the game.

“It was like, ‘Oh wow, look at that, green fairways and all those lovely trees. I love trees.’ I’ve never touched or been on a golf course. We knew nothing about it. We went to Welling Garden City, my local club, and booked my six lessons.”

When discussing some of the biggest misconceptions about what truly makes a successful golfer, he gave some great insight.

When discussing his golf beginnings, he stressed the importance of goals and discipline.

“Every goal has an intention.” – Sir Nick Faldo

“Chris Arnold was the assistant, and he taught me discipline because the first lesson was the grip, the stance, and the posture. So, you know how boring, and kids today give me a ball, let me rip it. Give me three seconds, they’ve got to hit it. He taught me the discipline of golf,” Faldo said.
